Tech Startup Goldenslate Among Those Honored at the 33rd Annual Palo Alto Chili Cook-Off

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) July 13, 2014

Just a month since its launch, Goldenstate made a big impression on the judges’ palates at Palo Alto’s 33rd Annual Chili Cook-Off, claiming 2nd place in the corporate division of the competition.

Close to 20 teams competed in the cook-off at Mitchell Park, with the event drawing an estimated crowd of 10,000 people from communities from across the Bay area. This year’s event also saw an ice cream taste-off added to the traditional Chili Cook-Off.

According to Ali Williams, the event coordinator, this year’s event was very successful even with stiff competition from the soccer World Cup.

For Goldenslate, this was an opportunity to participate in a wonderful community event and at the same time share the value of the Goldenslate referral solution.

Demonstrating the Goldenslate approach in practice – namely that you cannot beat trusted recommendations – the team hired former Google Chef Ron Conlu, a referred chef on Goldenslate.com, and his team to prepare 20 gallons of Chili. Their secret recipe, packed full of spice, also included chunks of beef instead of ground beef.

Goldenslate’s COO, Matthew Martin, commented: “For a new start-up company such as ourselves to participate in an event as huge as this, and at our first showing to come in second place, is an incredible honor. It shows that teamwork pays off!”

In the corporate category, the winning teams were EPA Can Do (1st place), Goldenslate (2nd place) and Team Vineyard (3rd place). According to Martin, “Next year, we’re returning with an appetite to receive top marks across all categories.”
